Chicago Food Inspection Disclaimer

1. Source of DataThis website provides applications and information using data modified for use from its original source, the City of Chicago's Open Data Portal (data.cityofchicago.org), specifically the Food Inspections dataset published by the Chicago Department of Public Health. The City of Chicago makes no claims as to the content, accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of any of the data provided herein. Data is provided under the City of Chicago's open data terms of use.
2. "As-Is" ProvisionThe data is provided on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. Chispections and the City of Chicago expressly disclaim any and all warranties, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
3. Inspection Snapshot NoticeUsers are hereby notified that a health inspection is a "snapshot" in time. An inspection result reflects only the conditions found at the establishment at the time of the inspection. Conditions may have changed significantly since the last recorded inspection. A "Pass" does not guarantee current cleanliness, and a "Fail" does not necessarily mean a restaurant is currently unsafe, as many violations are corrected immediately.
4. Limitation of LiabilityIn no event shall Chispections be liable for any damages, including but not limited to loss of business, profits, or reputation, arising from the use of or reliance on the information displayed. We are not a government agency and do not represent the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH).
5. Inspection Date vs Logged DateThe date shown on each inspection is the date the city's inspector visited the establishment. That is not necessarily the date Chispections learned about it. The City of Chicago publishes inspection records to its open data feed on its own schedule, and records can appear anywhere from a day to several weeks after the inspection itself. The pulse dot in the live feed marks records that first showed up in the public data within the last 24 hours, regardless of when the inspection happened.
